Helping and protecting children, young people through a co-ordinated approach is everyone’s responsibility. The arrangements ensure that organisations and agencies across Trafford are engaged to promote collaborative working across the whole family. The ambition of the TSSB is that everyone is able to recognise, respond and fulfil their responsibilities to children, young people and families in order to ensure a targeted needs led approach to services in the place based locality.
Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018) is statutory guidance for inter-agency working to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
The Department of Education's advice to help practitioners identify the signs of child abuse and neglect and understand what action to take is provided in the 2015 guidance 'What to do if you are worried a child is being abused'.
The National Institute for Care and Excellence (NICE) also provides guidance in how to recognise abuse and neglect. They have an interactive flowchart and guidelines which cover recognising and responding to abuse and neglect in children and young people aged under 18. It covers physical, sexual and emotional abuse, and neglect.
