Involving Children & Young People in Safeguarding

"The TSCB is committed to involving children and young people and working in partnership with them to ensure the TSCB operates effectively."

42nd Street provide support services to  young people under stress. They work with young people aged 13-25 living in Manchester, Salford and Trafford and provide a range of services including counselling, individual support, group work and volunteering opportunities.

Kooth is an online counselling, advice and mental health support service for young people in Trafford aged 11-18. As we are commissioned by Trafford council it is free for young people to use and is self-referral, meaning there is no need to visit a GP to access the service. Completely anonymous, it takes just a few minutes to sign up to the site where young people can then speak to fully qualified counsellors and therapists until 10pm, 365 days per year. There are also forums where young people can get peer based advice; these are all fully moderated by Kooth staff to ensure a safe and supportive environment. All counsellors are BACP accredited and police checked, and will continue to support young people for the duration they need. Kooth is also available in Manchester and Cheshire East.

Just Psychology (Trafford Sunrise)

Trafford Sunrise provides support for children age 5-12 years in coping with stress, learning how to relax and promoting emotional wellbeing. Children are able to access group sessions where they can practice their coping skills and make new friends. There are also sessions for parents, where they can obtain support using evidence based parenting techniques, around the identification and support of emotional difficulties in their children, and enhance existing coping strategies.
